The teleconference is open to the public and all interested parties are invited to listen in by telephone or remote CART. However, due to time constraints and that fact that this is a focus work group meeting, there will not be a public hearing nor public participation. Nearly 3 million Florida residents are deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened or deaf-blind, making people with hearing loss the largest disability group in the state of Florida. Florida has the second largest population of people who are deaf or hard of hearing in the nation. The subject of the meeting will be in furtherance of the Council’s mission of Information, Education and Advocacy regarding current education, medicine and outreach innovations and opportunities available to persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind. Content and publication of a citizens’ rights handbook may also be discussed.
