Assistive Listening Systems (ALSs)

Assistive listening systems are devices that enhance the sound quality and volume of public address systems for persons who are hard of hearing, including those who use hearing aids.

The U.S. Access Board has devised several technical bulletins that explain the systems and how to implement and use them.   The bulletins are available at the following link:

Looping Systems increase the benefits of hearing aids.  The growing worldwide market for assistive listening systems that complement hearing aids equipped with T-coil technology is discussed in an excellent article by Dr. David Myers that appeared in the September/October 2008 issue of Hearing Loss Magazine.
